Happy Birthday Henry!

Henry is turning 1 tomorrow!

His mom chose the cupcake flavors, gave me a copy of the birthday party invitation, and left the rest to me.

Half of the cupcakes were Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Frosting and half were Yellow Buttermilk Cake with Chocolately Chocolate Buttercream Frosting. And, especially for Henry, I made one giant Yellow Buttermilk Cupcake with the face of the lion from his invitation made from fondant.

Happy Birthday Isabella!

Isabella is celebrating her third birthday with this cake and cupcakes from the Sweetshop. Her mom let me design the cake with the only parameters being that it be 1)girly and 2) not fondant-covered.

The cake is Yummiest Yellow Cake Ever with vanilla buttercream filling and frosting accented with fondant grass and flowers. And I had so much fun making the birthday girl's likeness in fondant!

The coordinating cupcakes are also yellow cake with buttercream.

Love is all you need

Oh, and cupcakes, you've gotta have cupcakes!

To be honest, Valentine's Day really isn't a big deal around here. There are no candlelit dinners, no roses, no two-pound boxes of See's Nuts and Chews (hint, hint).

It's not that we're anti-VD (well, yes, actually, we are anti-VD, but we are not anti-Valentine's Day). I'm pretty sure we celebrated it a couple of times. And it's not lack of love that prevents us from celebrating. In fact, it's the strongest kind of love!

Four years ago A-Train made his appearance in early February, and ever since then, Valentine's Day has taken a back seat to whatever festivities are planned for the boy. Funny how becoming a parent changes every.single.thing about a person.

This year I wanted to bring back a bit of the sweetness that goes along with Valentine's Day:

Obviously, JBB and I can't eat quite this many cupcakes, so I hope the guys in the office enjoy the leftovers. And I hope there's chorus of "I love you man" going up in the break room.

Happy Birthday Maura!

Maura is turning 6, and she'll be having this awesome jewelry box cake!

This is French Vanilla cake with Vanilla Buttercream filling and frosting. And it's loaded with lots of edible jewelry- candy necklaces, bracelets, rings, and a few loose stones! Maura and her friends should be on a sugar high for weeks!
